Lagro High School partnered with Ateneo De Manila University to establish Project ALAM (Ateneo-Lagro HS using Apps from Mathplus Resources) for high school students last August 27, 2021 in a capacity-building webinar via Zoom.
Ateneo Math Professors and Proponents of Project ALAM namely Dr. Ma. Louise Antonette N. De las Penas, Dr. Jumala F. Sarmiento, Dr. Maria Alva Q. Aberin, Dr. Mark Anthony C. Tolentino, and Dr. Agnes D. Garciano attended the said meeting.
Ateneo De Manila University created applets that were helpful in Math and Statistics, students of Lagro High School will download and use them, and then LHS math teachers will also help in improving the applets.
Estrella Licerio, Grade 10 Mathematics teacher expressed her gratitude for Project ALAM, “The apps were really helpful not only for us teachers but also for our students. Pwede ring maging guide or review yung apps na binigay for students who have a hard time understanding a certain lesson.”
“Grade 10 students were able to use Factor Fuse, it helped them in finding the measure of an inscribed angle, angles formed 2 intersecting secants, 2 intersecting tangents, secant and tangent, and proving,” she added.
Fernando Garcia, STE 9-Goodall stated his experience In using the apps, “Very convenient naman po siya, hindi po nag t-take ng too much space for android users. Sobrang easy pong i download since may instructions na I g-guide ka. Hindi rin po lag compared sa other app.”
“Very interesting yung mga app na binigay sa main, at the same time helpful in enhancing our skills since STE students kami. Parang preparation for the next grade Level an rin.” Fernando added.
A survey was conducted after the student downloaded and used the apps, comments and suggestions were asked for the improvement of the apps.
Some of the applets were AlgeOps ,Catch the Carrot, Grid Game, Ordering Game, Just Keep Solving, AngleXplore, Total Commander for Grade 7, AlgeTiles, Drawline, Number Puzzle for Grade 8, Simplifying Radicals, Prove It, Two-Column Proof, Stats, Counting and Probability for Grade 9 and Factor Fuse, Central Inscribed Angle, Intersecting Chords Theorem, Secant Tangent Power Theorem, Two-Chord Power Theorem for Grade 10.
